I’ve done quite a lot of traveling over the years. For work, family, and fun. Whether it is an international trip with a long plane ride or a car road trip to the mountains, Here are my favorite travel snacks to stay healthy on the go.
Because they are portable and so delicious. They have 10 grams of protein from 100% grass-fed beef and free-range turkey. They have no nitrates, MSG, hormones, antibiotics, or sugar. My fave kind: Spicy turkey sticks. Get ’em here.
Because veggies don’t always pack well as travel snacks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m ALL for packing fresh veggies, but for longer trips, international travel, and when space or refrigeration is limited, greens powder is my jam. Healthy Skoop is legit healthy and unlike others I’ve tried it doesn’t taste like dirt or feel like sand when you swallow. I promise.
Here’s the deal: it is loaded with organic fruits and veggies, plant-based micronutrients and phytonutrients, probiotics, and adaptogenic herbs. And it’s made very carefully to retain the highest possible nutrient quality. Honestly, read the label. It is all made from real food. Get it here. Bonus: Save 20% with code HS20!
For an even MORE convenient option, I love the new effervescent tablets from Amazing Grass. They are super-packable tablets stored in a little tube just like Airborne or NUUN. Drop one in your water and they fizz into a tasty and nutrient-dense drink that is insanely easy on-the-go.
Nuts and Seeds
Nothing fancy, just some healthy, crunchy fats! Almonds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, pistachios (those shells though…they really annoy my husband when I attempt to gather them on my lap on winding mountain roads). Just avoid nuts with added oils (or “trail mixes” that basically mix very salty nuts with candy or sugar-coated dry fruit). Just plain nuts are all you need! I also pre-portion them into snack bags since it’s kind of easy to go…nuts (hilarious, I know).
Or if you want to be a little fancy, Nuttzo. Yep, organic nuts AND seeds, all blended into portable insanely tasty goodness. Eat it with Jilz, with fruits and veggies, by the spoonful, whatev.
The perfectly-balanced combo of healthy fats (from nuts), protein (from egg whites and nuts) and carbs (from fruit) makes RXBAR a super-convenient and super-nutritious on-the-go snack. And they taste SO good. Blueberry and chocolate sea salt are my faves. Get ’em here.
Healthy fat, plant protein, grain-free, and super satisfying. The packaging also makes them super convenient to pack as a travel snack so that they don’t take up too much space or crumble into nothingness. Get ’em here.
Dehydration is a thing. It can make your body feel exhausted and be the cause of your lingering headache. You’re even more susceptible when traveling. Avoid sugary drinks and limit caffeine. Water, water, water! Want bonus points? Get a little protein boost while giving your joints and bones some love and pack some super-portable and flavorless collagen peptide sticks. Or some of the Amazing Grass tablets for a veggie boost. Add one of each every day to your H2O. Your bod will thank you.
