Q: What do you eat pre-workout?
A: Well, it depends. On what? On what time of day I am working out. I’ve broken it all down in this blog post!
Q: How do you keep fruits and veggies fresh all week? I can only get to the store on weekends, and by the end of the week everything is moldy or slimy.
A: This is definitely a challenge. For more delicate produce, like berries and greens, I recommend not washing the produce until you eat it (or at least a day or 2 before). I know this sounds like a bummer from a meal prep perspective, but try out different techniques like only washing and cutting half of your strawberries on Sunday and then the rest on Wednesday for the second half of the week. For fresh greens, I’d also recommend putting a paper towel in their container and swapping it out every day or two (you’ll notice it’ll get damp from absorbing extra moisture – that’s a good thing for keeping those greens from getting slimy!). Heartier produce like cruciferous veggies (broccoli, brussels sprouts, apples, etc.) stays well being cut and washed in advance. Just keep it refrigerated! Finally, for produce that you keep on the counter, like onions, bananas, tomatoes, and avocados, keep them separated from each other. Keeping them together actually causes them to ripen more quickly (although you can use this to your advantage if those avocados are still hard and you’re getting impatient!).
